Why Chapel & Tuck exists
The Chapel & Tuck platform was built to provide a user-friendly way of comparing UK boarding schools. It was built with both parents and schools in mind following visits to several outstanding schools. Without exception, these visits were impressive and interesting, but they also revealed a broad basis of similarity without really highlighting important differences.

How the data works
Everything we publish comes from public records: Charity Commission and OSCR filings, reports from ISI, Ofsted, Education Scotland and Estyn, government demographic data, and schools’ own published information.
Every figure on the site links to its source, so you can check our workings. Where a number needs context — accounts filed at group level, an estimated figure, a regulator that publishes less detail — we say so on the page rather than hiding it.
We are careful about the difference between an indicator and a verdict. A financial health flag is a prompt to look closer, not a judgment on a school. Inspection results from different regulators are never forced onto a single scale. Where schools measure things their own way, we present their figures as their figures. We organise the record; we don’t editorialise.
Independence
Chapel & Tuck is independent. We are not owned by, or affiliated with, any school, school group, agency or consultancy. We carry no advertising and no sponsored listings. Schools cannot pay to change how they appear.
Who’s behind it
Chapel & Tuck was founded by Douglas Wilson, a UK boarding school parent and a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Marketing. Douglas has an MA in Management, specialising in business strategy, and has both founded and scaled businesses in a variety of industries.
